Happy Earth Day! Today is a holiday for me, a time to celebrate Earth, our planet, and how awesome we have it. Nature is amazing guys, which is why we should protect it!
I really like Earth Day. The first Earth Day took place on April 22, 1970. On that day, 20 million Americans came out to support our planet and ask the United States’ government and citizens to take a stand against the destruction and ruin of the only home we have, Earth.
But, I don’t want to get all doom and gloom on you. I want to do the opposite in fact. Today, look at all the good things you are doing in your life to help the environment. Of course you could do better, we all could. But today, take pride in your accomplishments.
A lot of environmentalist try to shame and guilt people into action. They highlight all the horrible things we are doing to the environment and call for people to make swift changes, less the world crumble beneath our feet.
Today shouldn’t be about doom and gloom. Today should be about celebrating your planet and all that it provides for you. Clean air. Clean water. Food. Shelter.
Thanks, Mother Earth.
I believe that if you appreciate something, you are more likely to take care of it. On Earth Day, appreciate Earth. Hell, everyday you should appreciate Earth. Today especially.
Since Earth Day 1970 and even before, the U.S. has done a great deal to protect and preserve our environment. We have long been a leader in the environmental movement. The United States was the first to set aside land for a National Park. We established one of the first government agencies dedicated to the protection of the environment. We have written numerous federal laws that have been copied by nations around the globe.
Can we do better? Sure. But, we’ve come a long way. We must not rest on our laurels nor ignore our achievements.
What do you do, day-to-day, to protect and celebrate our Earth?
In the past three weeks, I’ve written a series of blog posts under the title “21 Days to a Manlier Green.” Over these 21 posts, my interest and drive has waxed and waned, but I kept with it. I was on a mission and now I have succeeded! I hope these posts will be found by others in the future and help them to make their lives better.
I am proud with what I have done and today I will celebrate.
What are you celebrating today? What do you do to protect our planet? How do you like to enjoy all that Earth has to offer?
